Hey guys! Ever wondered what it's like to be a student at Arkansas State University? Well, buckle up because I'm taking you along for a day in my life! This vlog is all about giving you an inside look at what a typical day looks like for me as a student here at A-State. From classes to campus life, and everything in between, get ready for an adventure!
Starting the Day: Academics and Coffee
The morning hustle begins bright and early! My alarm goes off (way too early, if you ask me), and it's time to get ready for the day. First things first: coffee! No college student can function without a proper caffeine fix, am I right? I usually grab a quick coffee at the campus Starbucks or Java Primo, depending on which is closer to my first class. It’s the fuel I need to tackle those early morning lectures.
Speaking of lectures, my first class is usually something like Introduction to Psychology or maybe College Algebra. Arkansas State University has a great range of courses, and the professors are genuinely invested in helping students succeed. The class sizes are manageable, which means you actually get a chance to interact with your professors and classmates. This makes learning so much more engaging and less intimidating.
After the first class, it's often a rush to the next one. Depending on the day, I might have a lab session or a group project meeting. Labs are awesome because they offer hands-on experience that really complements what you learn in the lectures. Group projects, well, they're a mixed bag, aren't they? But they're also a great way to collaborate with other students and learn how to work effectively in a team. And let's be honest, sometimes you make really good friends through those projects!
Lunch Break and Campus Life
By midday, I’m usually starving! Lunchtime at Arkansas State University offers a bunch of options. The Student Union is a popular spot with a variety of food choices, from Chick-fil-A to a pretty decent salad bar. It's also a great place to catch up with friends and see what's happening around campus. You'll always find someone you know there.
After grabbing some food, I like to take a walk around the campus. A-State has a beautiful campus with lots of green spaces where you can relax and unwind. Sometimes I’ll sit by the Fountain near the library, read a book, or just people-watch. It’s a great way to de-stress before diving back into afternoon classes. The campus is also home to many events and activities. There's always something going on, whether it's a concert, a guest speaker, or a club fair. Getting involved in campus life is a fantastic way to meet new people and make the most of your college experience.
One of the things I love most about A-State is the sense of community. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and there's a real feeling of belonging. Whether you're attending a sporting event, joining a club, or just hanging out in the Student Union, you always feel like you're part of something bigger. This sense of community really makes Arkansas State University feel like home.
Afternoon Classes and Study Sessions
The afternoon often brings more challenging classes. This might be when I have upper-level courses related to my major. These classes are usually more in-depth and require a lot more focus. It's definitely when the coffee from the morning starts to wear off, and I need another boost! I try to schedule my classes so that I have some downtime in the afternoon to study or work on assignments.
The library is my go-to spot for serious study sessions. It's quiet, has plenty of resources, and is a great place to get focused. Plus, the librarians are super helpful if you need assistance with research. Sometimes I'll meet up with classmates to work on group projects or study for exams. Having a study group can be really beneficial, as you can bounce ideas off each other and help each other understand difficult concepts.
If I'm not at the library, you might find me at one of the computer labs on campus. These labs are equipped with all the software and technology you need to complete your assignments. They're also a great resource if you don't have a computer of your own. Many departments also have their own study areas or lounges where students can hang out and work together. Finding a study spot that works for you is key to staying productive and motivated.
Extracurricular Activities and Clubs
Arkansas State University has a TON of clubs and organizations, so there's something for everyone. Whether you're interested in sports, academics, arts, or community service, you're sure to find a club that fits your interests. I'm involved in a couple of organizations related to my major, which has been a great way to network with other students and professionals in the field.
Being part of a club is not only fun, but it also looks great on your resume. It shows that you're well-rounded and have leadership skills. Plus, it's a fantastic way to make friends and build connections that can last a lifetime. A-State also has a very active Greek life, with fraternities and sororities that offer a strong sense of community and opportunities for leadership development. From intramural sports to volunteer projects, there's always something to get involved in.
I usually dedicate a few hours each week to my extracurricular activities. This might involve attending meetings, volunteering at events, or working on projects with other club members. It can be a lot to juggle with classes and studying, but it's definitely worth it. Being involved in extracurriculars helps me stay balanced and connected to the campus community.
Evening Routine: Dinner and Downtime
By evening, I'm usually ready to unwind. Dinner is a must, and thankfully, A-State has a few options for late-night eats. The cafeteria is open until late, and there are also a few restaurants near campus that cater to the college crowd. Sometimes I'll cook dinner in my dorm room, but let's be honest, that doesn't happen very often!
After dinner, I like to relax and catch up with friends. We might watch a movie, play video games, or just hang out in the dorm lounge. It's important to take some time to de-stress and recharge after a long day of classes and studying. I also try to squeeze in some exercise, whether it's going for a run or hitting the gym. Staying active is a great way to stay healthy and manage stress.
Before bed, I usually review my notes from the day and plan for the next day. It's important to stay organized and on top of your assignments. I also make sure to get a good night's sleep. Getting enough rest is crucial for staying focused and alert in class. Then, it's time to do it all over again! Being a student at Arkansas State University is challenging, but it's also incredibly rewarding.
